ALL Edwin Jones wanted was help to overcome his financial problems. The 57-year-old from Blackburn found himself in difficulties after struggling to repay an £18,000 loan.

He thought the answer to his prayers was a company which said it would help him with debt advice.

But after shelling out £250 he has found himself unable to get in touch with Park Lane Services.

His case is one of hundreds of complaints about the Northamptonshire-based firm, which is being investigated by the Ministry of Justice.

The MoJ said Park Lane Services had ‘voluntarily suspended’ its authorisation to operate under claims management legislation following the allegations.

Mr Jones has spoken out about his experience to warn people about handing money over to companies they do not know a lot about.

He said he only found out about the firm after receiving an automated call on his phone and believed contacting them would help him get rid of his debt.

Mr Jones is now urging people who want help with their finances to visit the Government’s official website to access information before paying out money.
