I called in at McDonald’s the other day and was most impressed by how smart, pleasant and alert the youngsters working there were.

People may look down their noses at shop work, but it’s a hard job being on your feet all day, having to be pleasant to folk who aren’t always as nice as they might be and putting up with poor pay.

After my chicken burger, I forgot to pick up my handbag, which I had hung on the back of my chair.

Fortunately for me the young man who had been wiping tables came running out on the car park with it, just as we were driving off.

Now, that really made my day.
