RE, DISGRACE: Lancashire named in RSPCA animal suffering hall of shame. Big surprise! East Lancashire is near the top of most leagues for negatives, such as deprivation, poverty, teenage pregnancy, you name it.
Poverty and deprivation breed crime and violence.
Many people in East Lancashire are educated to the most rudimentary standards.
Everyone recognises that most East Lancashire towns like Blackburn, Accrington and Nelson are well past their sell by date. They only came into existence because of coal and textiles, and now that industry’s gone they’re left clinging to the wreckage.
And most young people born here who are bright and ambitious head south to where the money and jobs are, making a bad situation worse.
If it weren’t for jobs created in the public sector by Labour administrations much of East Lancashire would be a derelict wasteland, like Detroit. But now that even the Labour party have “gone Tory” and stopped the handouts the future is bleak indeed.
