The Trimbach family have been making wine near the town of Ribeauville in France’s Alsace region bordering Germany for nearly 400 years. Not so surprising then that one of their prime products, this delightfully dry white Riesling is long on flavour.
A mix of peach and green apples are tastes which make it a light, 12.5% drink for most occasions.
Vina Maipo Classic Merlot 2014, £9.99, Morrisons
If you asked most Britons for the first word that should go with Chilean the most popular answer would probably be ‘Merlot’.
The Merlot grape has been the main component of red wines made in areas like the Maipo Valley close to the Andes for at least 65 years. This 12.5% alcohol deep ruby example has lots of cherries and is beautifully soft.
