OVER the years I have heard my fair share of conspiracy theories. But one I heard this week really took the biscuit. That was until immediately after hearing it I got a cold.

This one is about the pharmaceutical companies.

MORE TOP STORIES:

Apparently, some people think pharmaceutical companies purposely release germs into the atmosphere at around the end of March, thus infecting people with a new strain of the common cold.

As many of us need cold medicine and tissues, this drives up the sale of these products and the companies can make up for a poor performance through the winter.

When I heard this story I was keen to find out where the ‘theorist’ or ‘guy who talks too much’ had got his information.

‘It is common sense really,’ came the reply.

Common sense was not something this chap had a lot of.

In the past his other conspiracy theories included one about supermarkets blocking your phone signal in specific aisles.

This was due to them not wanting you to check the price of products with competitors.

The cold spring weather is being controlled by the large power companies who want the temperature to be a lower for a while longer so then can increase their profits. I was not given an explanation as to how the ‘weather could be controlled’ but apparently there is a way of doing it.

Another one described how you were never ever allowed to have a day without a temporary traffic lights.

Temporary traffic light cameras were linked to a facial recognition database.

Not sure about that one.

Yet the cold virus one was common sense, I was told.

Then again, there is no other way to explain why I got flu-like symptoms.

I did not come into contact with anyone with a cold. In fact, does it not make common sense that one would be able to drive up the sales of a product by purposely taking part in germ warfare?

I must have been delirious from the flu - or I just wanted to blame someone else for catching a cold.

On another note, I am thankful that my commute to work is not so long every day.

Having travelled to Salford earlier this week for an early meeting, I was astounded to find the M61 gridlocked at 7.30am.

It had to be the most frustrating one hour and 15 minutes ever.,There were a lot of annoyed people first thing.
