THIS week I have been inundated with quite a number of people who think by sending ten WhatsApp messages they will somehow not have to pay for the service.

WhatsApp is the best thing ever invented and for a measly few pounds you can send an endless amount of rubbish to as many people as you want.

So, if they are asking you to pay for it why wouldn’t we? It is one of the last few services left on the planet that is actually worth more than what we pay for it.

But this is not good enough for some people. I fail to understand how sending ten messages of something will make something else happen?

I am actually quite concerned about the person who ‘invents’ the very first chain message. I would want to meet this person and ask them how they managed to come up with a message so pointless.

The only problem with WhatsApp is that it is actually too good. It knows if you have read the message and it tells you if the other person has too.

You can’t escape the endless nonsense that people send out. Thankfully you can block people but then you might miss that one messages that actually makes sense.

The biggest WhatsApp message senders in Blackburn are men in their fifties. I am not naming any names but there are few people who once they downloaded WhatsApp they went a little crazy with the messages.

And these are pretty respectable folk too. They don’t just send it to a select few people they make sure every single sad son of a gun on their phone book gets to read their daily pearls of wisdom!

I think we should follow a few important rules from now on.

Rule number 1: Do not let the elderly or those approaching retirement age get hold of WhatsApp messenger. They will abuse the hell out of it. Sorry, but I have seen this happen.

Rule number 2: Sending ‘nice charitable’ WhatsApp messages does not make you a better human being if everyone knows you are not a ‘nice’ person.

Rule number 3: Please do not share what the world already knows. Last week I got a breaking news service message from one guy who wanted to enlighten me about us landing on a comet. Yes, it had been in the news for several days but I might have missed it.
