BREWERY workers raised a glass in celebration after its unique tipples were listed among the top beers in the country.

Ales made by Bare Arts Brewery, which has sites in Newchurch Road, Stacksteads and Rochdale Road, Todmorden, feature in the Campaign for Real Ale’s (CAMRA) Good Bottled Beer Guide 2013, which has just been published.

Owners Trevor and Kathy Cook celebrated, seeing three of their ales picked in the guide – their best bitter, India pale ale and barley wine.

Jeff Evans, the guide’s author, said: “The number of breweries producing bottle-conditioned beer, or ‘real ale in a bottle’ has grown massively in recent years, thanks to an explosion in microbreweries across the UK.

“With more and more small breweries looking to bottle their beers, both for local sales and in order to reach further markets, the traditional method of bottle conditioning is proving a popular approach.”
