A BRIGHT spark from Haslingden High School has earned himself a place to study physics at Oxford University’s prestigious summer school.
Daniel Povey, 17, from Helmshore, is one of 36 students chosen from 4,500 applicants.
To gain a seat at the world-renowned school, he had to send a copy of his GCSE grades, all 10 A*s, a personal statement and application form.
He said: “When the envelope came it was quite thick. I thought that must be a good sign.
“Then when I opened it I read ‘congratulations’, and I was delighted.
“I jumped around the house a few times and my mum and dad were in tears.”
