90-year-old rescued from shed roof in Edenfield
10:26am Saturday 15th October 2011 in Edenfield
By Vanessa Cornall, Crime reporter
AN elderly man had to be rescued from his shed roof after falling while trying to repair it.
The 90-year-old was stranded on the roof for more than half an hour before the alarm was raised.
Firefighters were called to the pensioner's home in Gincroft Lane, Edenfield, shortly after 3.45pm yesterday.
They used a ladder and brought him down on a stretcher.
A Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “The gentleman had been up on the shed roof for at least half an hour before the alarm was raised so he was very cold.
“He also suffered a number of cuts and bruises but really he got away lightly.”
Paramedics were also called to treat the man.
