Grade Two listed building in Bacup to be auctioned

A GRADE Two-listed building in Bacup will be going under the hammer at a Manchester auction later this month.

Property auctioneer Pugh & Co will auction 178 residential and commercial lots from Lancashire, Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds and Newcastle – including the empty grade II listed market hall in Bacup.

The town centre building is being offered at £125,000 plus.

The auction will be held at Manchester United Football Club at 12pm on April 19th.

Kate Lay, head of Pugh & Co’s residential division, said she has seen an upsurge in the number of people buying and selling properties at auction.

Whoever buys it I hope they have more success and/or interest than the person who bought the old Cinema!

The fact that it's listed is what has saved it so far! This is a fantastic building that could be developed for the town - no-one will buy flats in the town centre - they have enough trouble letting them. As someone who lives and has a shop in Bacup, I would love to see the Market Hall restored for public use. I wouldn't support it being turned into flats.
As to the old cinema/bingo hall - B&E Boys bought it and so far have done nothing with it. There are rumours - but you can't listen to them - can you?
