A WARNING has been issued to young people after two deliberate bin fires at a children's playground.
The fires occurred at around 6.30pm on Saturday on the site in Hawthorne Road in Bacup.
Bacup fire service said young people took wheelie bins from local houses and set fire to them under a shelter.
Crews used hose reels to extinguish both fires.
Watch Manager Chris Howarth warned young people they are putting themselves in danger by setting fire to bins deliberately.
He said: "Youths are putting themselves at risk, wheelie bins contain unknown waste products including deodorants and other spent gas canisters that can prove to be very dangerous in a fire situation.
"The fire service would urge residents in the Pennine Estate area of Bacup to keep their wheelie bins in a secure place, only putting them out on the morning of collections."
