A POLICE officer has criticised a “scumbag” thief who burgled a house while officers were paying their respects to fallen soldiers.
Police said they received a report of a man inside a house in Todmorden Road, Bacup, at around 11am yesterday.
The man is described as having short blond hair, of medium build and around five foot eight inches tall.
He is said to have escaped with a quantity of jewellery and other items. Nobody has been arrested in connection with the burglary. PCSO Chris Hamer said on Twitter: “Sadly, someone took the opportunity to commit a burglary while officers were paying their respects to the fallen. #scumbags.”
Police have asked any witnesses to call them on 101.
