Mum, 15, attacked by girl gang in Whitworth

A 15-year-old girl was attacked as she pushed her baby son in a buggy.

Police said the girl was pushing her 14-month-old son in Market Street, Whitworth, when the incident happened between 5.30pm and 5.45pm on January 26.

The victim claimed she was followed by up to six girls aged around 16 or 17-years-old and then confronted by a further two girls as she turned into Market Street.

She alleged that the girls dragged her to the floor by her hair and assaulted her.

Officers said a motorist stopped and helped the girl, prompting her attackers to run off in the direction of the Half Way House.

Call police on 08451 25 35 45 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

sick of hearing about these ferals now, there will come a day when the town hall pays sixpence for their corpses, just like the rats of old.

I think I would actually prefer to live with the rats.

With the government cutting the number of police officers on the streets and having councils cutting youth training schemes and the like i,m afraid incidents like this are going to be more common and widespread.East lancs could end up as dangerous as the bronx.

What makes a gang of teenage girls do something like that to a young mother with her baby?
She must know them.

It's like Dawn of the Dead out there.

Any time that I feel homesick for England a quick visit to the Telegraph site reminds me just how lucky I am to be living elsewhere.

Utterly incredible story, on many levels.
15year old Mother of a 14month child.
16year old girls acting like a pack of wild animals.

And finally, an holier than thou comment from Adelaide, SA, where 'home invasion' from criminals is so prevalent people feel the need to arm themselves. See-

whatever the age of the mother doesn't give thugs the right to beat her up.
what has age got to do with being a parent this girl could be an excellent mum for all the detractors know and she's a lot more in common with her child than someone in their late 50's.

Adelaide is a clean, quiet, prosperous city with a lower crime and teenage pregnancy rate than the UK. I am in a position to to comment as I live here and lived for 40 plus years in East Lancashire. Nothing 'holier than thou' in pointing that out. Now shut your yap muppet.

No, it's not a "holier-than-though" attitude; it's a smug one.
I'm really pleased for you that ran away from this country and made a better life for yourself instead of helping improve he country which gave you the opportunity to leave it. But to then log on here and make comments like that just makes you a smug git.
