A DECISION to cut funds from Rossendale Citizens’ Advice Bureau has been postponed by Rossendale Council.
The council’s cabinet committee discussed reducing CAB’s budget this week but pledged to work alongside the team until they identify the space for improvements.
Coun Catherine Pilling, leader of the Lib Dem group, urged the council to continue to fund CAB.
She said: “The CAB has helped many thousands of individuals get their lives back on track in the past by giving expert and unbiased advice. It is a well run, well loved and well used resource.
“During the current economic climate the CAB is over twice as busy as usual. It is unthinkable to reduce support at this time.”
A spokesperson from the council said: “As per the recommendation in the report no reduction in the grant will happen until we work together with the CAB to identify efficiencies and other things like Help Direct are in place and working well.”
