A COMPETITION to find the best local shop has launched.

The competition will run across all of the Rossendale, Darwen and North Turton constituency and voting will be open until April 13.

The winning shops will be crowned Best Shop in Rossendale and Best Shop in Darwen and North Turton and nine runner up prizes will also be awarded for each category.

Every shop recognised, winners and runners up, will be awarded a luxury hamper from the Houses of Parliament.

MP for Rossendale and Darwen Jake Berry took to Facebook to encourage people to vote, describing the competition is a 'great way' to promote local businesses.

He said: "This year's Best Shop Competition is officially open.

"It's a great way to promote our fantastic local businesses and for the community to get involved.

"It is also a chance for our hard-working business owners to be recognised and appreciated for all the work they do.

"You can find out more information, including how to vote, by visiting the website or popping into any shop displaying the Best Shop Competition poster."
