A MUSEUM plans a major building extension.
The Whitaker Museum and Art Gallery, in Rawtenstall, has won an initial £100,000 from the Heritage Lottery Fund to extend the museum into the bar, stables and yard.
The project is expected to include extra space for exhibitions linked to history, art and culture.
Cllr Alyson Barnes, leader of Rossendale Council, said: "When the extension is completed we hope the museum will further reinforce Rossendale's reputation as a cultural destination."
