ORGANISATIONS in Rossendale are being encouraged to support the council’s Up and Active scheme and help get residents in the borough moving more.
There are grants of up to £500 available through the project for organisations and groups that can help to get people more active, particularly those who are currently inactive.
Alison Wilkins of Rossendale Borough Council, who is co-ordinating the project, said: "We want to encourage local groups to join in and help get their communities more active. Funding is available for things like equipment, room hire and instructors“
The Up and Active website www.upandactive.co.uk has information on lots of physical activities in the area.
Local organisations, sports and fitness clubs throughout the borough that provide activities and exercise sessions can also promote them on the Up and Active website free of charge.
