A £3.5M development of 44 new homes in Sabden has laid firm foundations for the careers of six apprentices.
Housing company Calico has signed up to a National Housing Federation pledge to help generate apprenticeship opportunities through its investment activity.
Calico was keen to ensure all of the contractors working on the development also committed to the apprenticeship pledge, and the fact so many opportunities have been created is testament to their support. Jane Smith, Skills and Enterprise co-ordinator for Calico, said: “The creation of apprenticeship opportunities through our investment programme is an absolutely priority.
“ We are so proud to have created six apprenticeships.
“Our contractors have been fantastic in supporting our apprentices, who have all shown real dedication, positivity and enthusiasm in their new careers.”
A show home at the Cobden Mill site is now open.
