THE sun beat down on Beat-Herder festival this weekend as thousands of music lovers descended upon Gisburn for three days of live music, comedy, and entertainment.

Musical heavyweights including Groove Armada, Jaguar Skills and Booka Shade joined local acts performing across 11 contrasting stages.

The festival, which is in its seventh year, combines live music with DJ sets, creative workshops, face painting, food, and stalls.

Each year also has a dedicated fancy dress theme, and many festival-goers joined in with this year’s ‘T’ theme.

Beat-Herder, which sold out completely once again, is independently funded and does not receive any sponsorship or funding from corporate organisations.

Nick Chalmers, one of the founders and organisers said: "Without a doubt, the best Beat-Herder yet.

“We couldn't have asked for better weather or a more electric crowd - both of which contributed to an amazing atmosphere.

“We saw some unbeatable performances from local, national and international artists alike and we're delighted that our two new arenas - the epic 60ft Fortress and the Maison D'Etre - went down a storm.

“Pleased to say it was another sell-out year and a perfect weekend all round."
