THE annual Gisburn Gala has raised more than £1,700, which will be split between Gisburn Festival Hall and Friends of Gisburn School.
The event, which took place last Saturday, was opened by the Mayor of Ribble Valley Coun Richard Sherras.
The winner of the Lancashire-themed children’s fancy dress competition was Mia Oldroyd, who went along as a pint-sized Coronation Street’s Hilda Ogden, complete with rollers.
Gala-goers were entertained by Preston Music Centre Concert Band, directed by the school’s music teacher Neil Bird.
Giles Bridge, chairman of the hall committee, said: “The standard of entries to the produce show was very high, the children, in particular, put in a lot of effort, especially in the baking and craft categories.”
