GRANDMA Singleton’s cheese, made in Longridge, won a prestigious Prince of Wales Award at the Great Yorkshire Show.
The cheese, made from Parlick Fell Ewes’ Milk, won first prize for Sheep’s Milk Cheese and an award for Speciality Cheese The new award for outstanding quality was launched to mark the 10th anniversary of the Great Yorkshire Cheese and Dairy Show, making Grandma Singleton’s the first recipient.
The Prince of Wales is patron of the Yorkshire Agricultural Society.
It means Grandma Singleton’s will now be able to display a specially-designed logo on their Parlick Fell Cheese to mark it as outstanding.
Tilly Carefoot, owner of the dairy and great granddaughter of the founder, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have won this award, especially in the year we are re-launching all our handmade cheeses as Grandma Singletons.”
