MP Nigel Evans vows to be the voice of the North West following his committee re-election to two committees.

The Ribble Valley MP, who was first elected as a member of Parliament in 1992, was re-elected onto both the international trade and the international development committees in the House of Commons.

The International Trade Committee and the International Development Committee examines the expenditure, administration and policies of the Department of International Trade and the Department for International Development.

Mr Evans said: “I am looking forward to the roles on both Parliamentary committees.

“I was on both of these committees in the last Parliament but have had to stand for fresh elections.

“I had to contend against strong competition from a number of candidates and I am delighted to be elected.

“Part of my role will include scrutinising Liam Fox and International Trade ministers to ensure we have an effective policy on trade with not just the 27 countries from the European Union but the rest of the world.

“I am the only committee member from the North West and I want to ensure that I provide a voice for not just my constituents but the Northern Powerhouse project as well.”
