GRANTS of £45,000 are set to be handed out to sports clubs and entertainment venues across the Ribble Valley.

The borough council has received applications for funding and has revealed how much it is proposing to give out.

A final decision will be made by the authority's community committee on Tuesday, March 14.

Ribchester Tennis Club is in line to receive £3,000 for new LED lights, new perimeter fencing and works to the pavilion while the village's Playing Field Trust could get £3,250 for new games nets and fittings on the multi-use games area.

The Mellor and District Community Association could be given £3,000 for ground source heating and a new floor for the main hall and a new entrance.

A total of £10,000 is earmarked for the Whalley Education Foundation for a new main hall floor in the Old Grammar School and Ribble Valley Cricket Decampment Group is in line for £2,620 for a new three-year coaching programme.
