Horse rider airlifted to hospital after fall at Trawden Show

A 20-year-old woman was taken by helicopter to Royal Blackburn Hospital after being trampled by a horse at the Trawden Agricultural Show this afternoon.

She suffered bruising to her right side and was treated by members of the Rossendale and Pendle Mountain Rescue team before being taken from the scene by the air ambulance.

The woman is believed to have been thrown off a horse she was riding and will undergo x-rays to assess the extent of her injuries.

Peter Goble from the RPMRT said the incident happened at 2.20pm and his team were able to offer pain relief immediately before a doctor arrived.
