THE chairman of the Pendle Labour Party has condemned the attack on a councillor's car last week.
Russell Tennant said Cllr Mohammad Sakib was lucky to be alive after his Audi Q7 was set on fire outside his home in Regent Street, Nelson on Saturday morning.
The councillor, along with his family, were awake and in the house at the time.
Mr Russell said: "This is a horrific attack on a Labour councillor and Mohammad Sakib is lucky to be alive.
"Had the fire spread it could have resulted in serious injury or loss life.
"The police are investigating this seriously and we hope the culprits are found quickly.
"If anyone has any info please contact the police on 101."
