AN EAST Lancashire angling group is appealing for volunteers to help with a day-long clean-up exercise.

Members of Trout in the Town Project on the Reserve are teaming up with Lancashire Wildlife Trust and Friends of Colne's Greenfield Road Local Nature Reserve to clean up the Greenfield stretch of Colne Water, which runs through the Reserve, on Sunday, June 22.

More volunteers are required to carry the material to a nearby skip.

The exercise will begin at 9.30am and no experience of taking part in conservation projects is necessary.

Suitable clothing to cope with the weather is required.

And all volunteers who come along should carry sun screen, insect repellent and sufficient refreshments.

Communications officer for Lancashire Wildlife Trust Peter Mallon said: "This is a great example of partnership working."

Anyone interested in helping out with the project should arrive at the site before 9.30am on June 22.
