A HOST of Willy Wonkas, Oompa-Loompas, Matildas and witches had a ‘marvellous’ time at a Barrowford primary school’s Roald Dahl day.
Veruca Salt and Charlie Bucket were among the characters the youngsters dressed up as at St Thomas’ CofE Primary School, in Wheatley Lane Road, as they celebrated the author.
Headteacher Michelle Wright said: “The children and staff all dressed up as characters from the Dahl books and we had a Roald Dahl lunch, which included Fantastic Mr Fox’s chicken pie, The Grand High Witch’s Brew – tomato soup – with a Willy Wonka Wrap, James’ Giant Peach upsidedown cake and George’s Marvellous Medicine milkshake.
“A marvellous day was had by all.”
In the afternoon pupils took part in a worldwide webcast during which Lucy Dahl, Road Dahl’s daughter, answered questions from children around the world.
They also saw a live song from the musical Matilda.
