THE MAN who fell to his death from the top of a Nelson car park at the weekend has been named.

Former cricketer Ian Nutter, 65, from Barnoldswick, died when he fell from the top of the Pendle Rise car park at around 5.30pm on Saturday.

Yesterday his family paid tribute to a ‘loving father, grandfather and husband’.

Friends from Barnoldswick Cricket Club also paid tribute to their teammate of 20 years.

His family said: “Ian was a loving father, grandfather and husband. He leaves behind his wife Carol and his children and grandchildren.

“Ian is from Barnoldswick and has had a lifelong love of Alsatians; owning three in his life, and often seen walking around the Barnoldswick area with them.

“Ian is well known for his wicket keeping at Barnoldswick Cricket Club where he has been playing for over 20 years.

"He also played for and supported Barnoldswick United Football Club for many years.

“He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.”

A spokesman for Barnoldswick Cricket Club said: “Ian was great for our club.

"A fantastic wicketkeeper, a dogged and determined batsman who played the game hard but in the right spirit.

“He always had a great rapport with his team mates and offered encouragement to all the youngsters.

“He will be sadly missed and never forgotten.”
