A PRIMARY school teacher has been award for her 'outstanding' work in the summer term.

Anne Kershaw of Laneshaw Bridge Primary School received the Outstanding Teacher of the Term award.

The award was part of the education recruiting company Hays Education to reward teachers for their work.

Upon receiving her award, Mrs Kershaw said said: "I am so grateful to receive this award.

"It's great to be rewarded for a job that I love doing.

"I would like to thank everyone who I have taught over the past year.

"I have had some great pupils and loved every minute of it."

Jo Sharples, the school's headteacher, said she was pleased with Mrs Kershaw's work.

She said: "Anne has been working with the school's year one class this year.

"Since her arrival the pupils have progressed wonderfully with their learning, thanks to her dynamic and refreshing approach to teaching.

"Anne has been involved in the whole school life and contributes wherever she can.

"The children have thoroughly enjoyed their lessons whilst also developing their skills."

The Emmott Lane school has around 200 children on its role with youngsters aged between four and 11-years-old.
