AN EXTRAORDINARY feud between a Pendle peer and its MP could be about to end – if the old adage ‘it’s good to talk’ comes true.

Lord Tony Greaves and Pendle’s Parliamentarian Andrew Stephenson have been at loggerheads in an increasingly bitter dispute.

The leadership at Pendle Council has been attempting to broker talks with the MP, to address a number of issues.

But the stumbling block, it has emerged, was the MP’s refusal to enter discussions with Lord Greaves present.

Matters came to a head recently after the peer posted a photograph of Mr Stephenson’s constituency home on Facebook.

The MP told colleagues this was a step too far and has resisted talks with Labour council leader Cllr Mohammed Iqbal, who has Lord Greaves, also a Pendle borough councillor, as his deputy.

Conservative group leader Cllr Joe Cooney said: “I’m sure Cllr Greaves has Andrew Stephenson’s mobile number. Why doesn’t he just give him a call?”

And Cllr Greaves, speaking at a full council meeting, said he may take up the offer. He denied taking the Facebook picture but accepted posting it on his account.
