COLNE’S top attractions are not in danger of closing, it was rebuffed today.
Pendle Council’s deputy leader Councillor Tony Greaves dismissed claims in a Conservative Party leaflet that lists a raft of services that are “highly likely” to be cut by the new Pendle Council Lib-Lab administration.

The leaflet was handed out in Colne town centre and several thousand were distributed by a commercial delivery company.
The leaflet lists a series of events and attraction that could be cut, stopped or closed, including the Blues Festival, Colne Leisure Centre, the Discover Pendle centre, the Tour of Britain stage two with its finish in Colne and the Open Door furniture recycling operation.
Cllr Greaves said: “I understand that the Tories are angry, though they should direct that anger towards themselves.
“What I think is wrong is inventing a series of untruths about local services and events which many people value. It can only worry and upset people, and when it’s completely wrong it’s not acceptable.”
He added: “Let me be quite clear. None of these things will be scrapped and not one will be cut in any way.”
