UNEMPLOYMENT figures for August have shown that unemployment rates in Pendle are continuing to fall.
The figures for August 2014 were published by the Office for National Statistics.
The number of unemployed claimants in Pendle in August 2014 was 1,186. This represents a rate of 2.9 per cent of the economically active population aged 16 to 64.
The number of claimants is 605 lower than in August 2013 and 74 lower than in July 2014.
Pendle MP Andrew Stephenson said: “It’s great to see another monthly fall in unemployment and a record number of vacancies advertised.
“This week I have seen job adverts from Daisy in Nelson and Denwa in Barrowford, the Fence Gate Inn and Barley Mow in Pendleside and Hope Technology in Barnoldswick.
“Unemployment in Pendle is now well down on its peak back in 2009 and nationwide we has seen the biggest annual drop in 26 years.”
