A NEW coffee shop in Colne has received £3,000 of council cash.
The grant was used by About Coffee, run by Sue and Colin Unwin, to improve their Victorian building in Church Street.
Coun Paul White, executive member for economic regeneration, said: “About Coffee is one of the many new businesses that have benefited from a council grant.
“It’s great to see that they’ve put it to good use. We’re making a huge effort to help our town centres thrive.”
“It’s not a free hand-out: businesses like About Coffee have to match our funding.
“Whether you’re an existing business or are about to set up, you could receive a grant.”
Colin said: “The grant was very useful and getting free business rates for our first year was good too.
“It makes the project viable because the building was in such a poor condition and required so much remedial work.”
All town centre businesses in Pendle are eligible to apply for one of the Town Centre Premises Improvement Grants.
