A COUPLE were forced to call for the fire brigade after waking up in the early hours to discover their bathroom on fire.
The pair, who live in a mid terrace house in North Street, Nelson, were awoken by smoke alarms at 4am yesterday and managed to get out of the property unhurt.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the house to extinguish the blaze. A Lancashire Fire Service spokesman said: “When we arrived the bathroom was well alight.
“At this stage the cause of the fire is unknown but we do believe it was accidental. Both occupant managed to get out before we arrived.
“The fire has completely gutted the bathroom. A fire investigation has now been launched.”
