PENDLE Council has been awarded the Investors in People gold award.
Council chiefs said the award represented achievement of world class best practice only given to organisations operating at the very highest levels of people management.
Coun Joe Cooney, leader of Pendle Council, said: “This is great news for local residents who can be assured that their council is investing in its staff to run local services that best meet the needs of Pendle’s communities.”
The council was awarded the silver award earlier this year.
Only 14 points away from striking ‘gold’, the authority invited the assessor back earlier this month to view how it was meeting the criteria. Just three per cent of organisations that are awarded IIP status reach the gold standard.

.
I rang pendle council's health department and was told by a guy his hours had been cut back to 2 days a week due to government cutbacks.
.
TWO days earlier I asked to speak to a guy who was dealing with a legal enquiry of mine only to be told he'd been laid off because the council had to cut back on staff levels.
.
worst of all, the majority of the pendle council 'staff' are sub-contracted out, either via liberata or some other company. Hardly an investor in people?
.
what a self-congratulatory award considering Pendle council have made huge redundancies over the last two years.
.
silver medal one minute, aims for gold the next,,, no wonder we can't get a decent service, they're all aiming for self-praising targets instead of providing a 'Gold' quality service for the people they represent.
.
I would treat this 'award' with a pinch of salt, simply because it FAILS to state which 'criteria' is needed to meet its Silver or Gold standards.
.
To celebrate, we must know WHAT we are celebrating. ALL Civil servants jobs are on the line so this publicity stunt is merely a front to 'appease' taxpayers that what's left of the town hall team are quality staff. In reality, we now have ONE council staff doing TWO people's jobs.
.
not convinced? why does Pendle council still have a 'chief executive' claiming over £100,000 per annum when they aint needed?
