FUNDRAISERS at the Thorn Inn, in St James Road, Church, have presented a magnificent cheque for £5,425 to children’s charity, When You Wish Upon A Star.
Staff and patrons at the pub have raised more than £20,000 for various charities over the past five years.
Landlord William Eaves said: “Over the last year, we have raised £5,425. We have had weekly prize draws and throughout the year we have held chest waxings, barbecues, and ice bucket challenges.”
East Lancashire Hospice and The Alzheimer’s Society will benefit from funds this yearpub’s hard work. When You Wish Upon A Star is a charity specialising in making dreams come true for children with life-threatening diseases.A ‘Jacob’s join’ supper was served, and local artist Nicola Lynch performed.
