A RESIDENT at a housing association fell asleep with a pan of pasta on the hob, causing a blaze, firefighters said.

They were called to the Blackburn with Darwen Foyer, in Princes Street, Blackburn, around 6.35am Wednesday to put out the flames. A spokesman said: “We got the call as an automatic fire alarm, but when we got there, somebody had left a pan of cooking on in one of the flats.

“The resident was still in and had fallen asleep.

“We had to wake him up and get him out of the flat.”
