A WOMAN died after falling in her bedroom in a Hapton care home, an inquest heard.
Florence Margaret Bancroft, 85, was a resident of Wordsworth House Care Home, where she was found collapsed on her bedroom floor in the early hours of Tuesday, June 3 this year.
Carers were carrying out hourly checks on Mrs Bancroft during the night, as she had been feeling unwell, and she was discovered by care assistant Jennifer Hodges, who raised the alarm.
The hearing at Blackburn Coroners Court heard that Mrs Bancroft may have got up in the night to visit the bathroom and fallen.
Mrs Bancroft was taken by ambulance to Royal Blackburn Hospital, where she died almost a week later, on June 9.
A post-mortem examination concluded that Mrs Bancroft, a retired self-employed butcher, had died as a result of a head injury.
Blackburn coroner Michael Singleton recorded a verdict of accidental death.
