A FRIEND of a former Mayor of Whitworth has thanked council gardeners for their work in maintaining the area in which a memorial plaque stands in his memory.
The grassed area surrounding the plaque bearing former mayor Terry Bolton’s name and inscription has been tidied.
Whitworth Coun Alan Neal said: “My thanks go to both Tamzin Percival and Tony Phillips and the staff from Rossendale Borough Council’s parks and grounds maintenance staff who have undertaken these works.
“The area at the bowling green of The Riverside looks wonderful. I'm quite sure the late Terry Bolton's family will also be very grateful for the work that as been carried out to such a standard.”
