A CAMPAIGN group hoping to keep fracking out of East Lancashire has appeared at many Pendle events.

Keep East Lancashire Frack Free (KELFF) had information stalls at Trawden Show, Barlick Beach and Colne Rhythm and Blues Festival, hoping tell residents about the perceived risks of fracking such as danger to the environment, public health and climate change.

The Government recently announced the sale of site licences in East Lancashire, which could lead to drilling companies eventually extracting shale gas. KELFF are submitting a petition to declare their districts ‘Frack Free Zones’.

While many believe fracking would bring investment to the area, others fear the industry is unsafe, ungreen and threatens landscapes.

In the US, Fracking has caused myriad problems after toxic water used in the process leaked into residents drinking water supply.
