A burglar who was caught on CCTV walking away with televisions from a house has been given 29 months’ youth custody.

Security cameras at Fulledge Conservative Club captured Anthony Herdman, 20, carrying the sets after a burglary in the area, Burnley Crown Court was told.

Joseph Allman, prosecuting, said the larger of the two sets seen in the footage was found in a car park behind the TK Maxx store nearby but the other TV was never recovered. Herdman, of Hart Street, Burnley, admitted burglary. He has 29 offences on his criminal record, including seven for burglary.

Judge Beverley Lunt said: “You have now started to look like a career burglar – you need to stop this.

“You are only 20.”

The judge accepted that he had been involved in the break-in with at least two others, but warned the defendant that the next time he was convicted he would be looking at a four-year minimum sentence.

Joe Boyd, defending, claimed Herdman regretted his actions now.
