AMBULANCE chiefs said they were pleased with the recent performance of their ‘see and treat’ initiative.

The measure has been brought in to increase the number of patients treated at the scene by North West Ambulance Service, so reducing attendances at hospitals in the region.

A report to the trust board said: “See and Treat Activity in June amounted to 17,070 (19.8 per cent of total incidents) and is the highest percentage achievement by NWAS NHS Trust to date.

“It reflects a 1.3 per cent improvement over June 2013’s figure of 18.5 per cent. The positive impact of alternative pathway schemes can be seen in the percentage improvement.”
