ASBESTOS has been left on the site of a flattened Rishton mill.

The substance, which can be extremely harmful if inhaled, is ‘not understood to be harmful unless it is disturbed’, Coun Ken Moss said.

“However, this constitutes a blighted site and is unacceptable from a council point of view,” he added.

He also said council officers were ‘dealing’ with the asbestos.
