THE soap box race at Stubbylee Community Greenhouses that had to be cancelled last month after the Bacup centre was raided by thieves has been reorganised for October.

The charity-run project for people with mental health issues, in Stubbylee Lane, holds the annual event where people bring their own homemade wheeled carts and race them, to raise cash for the centre.

Organisers are looking for people who would like to hold stalls at the event on Saturday, October 11.

In June, a gang of burglars targeted the project, and stole around £6,000 of tools.

The break-in prompted people to come forward with donations, including a local businessman who gave a state-of-the-art security and an alarm system worth thousands of pounds.
