RENOVATION work is being carried out to Rawtenstall Cenotaph to coincide with the centenary of the start of the First World War.
Concrete that was depreciating at the site in Queens Square Memorial Garden is in the process of being replaced with marble.
A remembrance event was held at the site last November, with a commemoration and wreath laying service performed before the memorial.
A Rossendale Council spokesman said: “General renovation work is being done to the memorial,”
Jake Berry, Rossendale’s MP, said: “It’s good to see the war memorial being repaired.”
