LITTER bins that were replaced with smaller alternatives have filled up and are overflowing into the street, a councillor said.
Last week Sudell councillor Roy Davies slammed the decision to replace large litter bins in Walmsley Street and Olive Lane with smaller ones.
Blackburn with Darwen Council environment chief Coun Jim Smith explained the bins needed to be replaced because of a shortage of vehicles to empty the old ones, but said if necessary the new bins would be emptied more often.
However over the weekend, Coun Davies said the bins had filled up with rubbish spilling into the street.
He said: “The last time this emptied was Wednesday and is is overflowing and spreading through the street.”
