LANCASHIRE’S police and crime commissioner has welcomed a pilot scheme offering more protection to domestic abuse victims.
It comes after officers were given more powers to apply to the courts for those arrested to be made to stay away from their partners.
Clive Grunshaw said: “The effects of domestic abuse can be devastating and the impact it can have on victims should not be underestimated. Tackling domestic abuse, protecting victims and bringing offenders to justice are clear priorities for me and I welcome the introduction of these new domestic violence protection orders.
“I am committed to ensuring Lancashire continues to tackle domestic abuse and provides support for victims and these new orders are a vital tool which can be used by police to protect victims and help to keep them safe.”
