SCARECROWS will once again decorate the streets of Whitworth for the town’s annual festival from Saturday.
Schools, community groups and families have created entries based on their favourite fictional characters that will be scattered across the length of the town for a week.
Coun David Chorlton, chair of the Whitworth Tourism and Leisure Committee that organise the festival, said: “The names of the scarecrows are very intriguing.”
This year’s competition winners will walk away with a certificate and a family ticket to see ‘Alice In Wonderland’ at the Octagon Theatre in Bolton.
An official trail map has been produced and is free and available from UBS in Market Street, Whitworth Post Office, and The Riverside in Facit, or can be downloaded from www.whitworth.gov.uk.
