EIGHT students and the headteacher of a Stacksteads school rolled up their sleeves to help clear out a blocked ditch.
The members of the Pupil Voice Interact Club at Fearns Community Sports College, and its head, Nigel Dawson joined Stacksteads Countryside Park Group (SCPG) to remove silt from the ditch to aid drainage from Frost Hall Forest, off Blackwood Road.
Cameron Priestley, a student, said: “I live around here and I know of the good work that SCPG do.
“I got involved with Pupil Voice because I wanted to help the community.
“I think that what we are doing is good and it will stop the path flooding. I am more than happy to come and help.”
The team will also be assisting SCPG on a gardening project at Rosemount Community Park, off Huttock End Lane, in Stacksteads, next month.
