Over-55s opt to downsize
RESEARCH has shown that almost two-fifths of homeowners aged over 55 are planning to move to a smaller home.
Figures published by Prudential show that up to 2.3million plan to raise money by selling their current property.
It was revealed that the average additional funds from such deals are typically around £85,000.
In total, 38per cent of respondents to the insurer’s poll said they have thought about downsizing, while 20per cent stated they plan to do so within the next five years.
